Hey everyone,
Starting to get a bit stressed, had Slinky since last Saturday (2nd) and she didn't eat on Wed when due. Tried again today and she isn't interested, I have left the wee pinkie under her hide.
How long do I leave it there and when should I get worried about her eating?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated. She is our first baby Corn.
Thanks |

personaly i wouldnt leave a mouse in for more than 12 hours, maybe a day. solid has refused a couple of times - if the mouse was still there in the morning i`d chuck it and try a couple days later with a brained mouse, then he does take |

may be your snake could be a bit stressed new home and all. try leaving it alone for a few days, then try again.
all so check your temperature, make sure they are ok.

Thanks,
I'll leave the pinkie in for another couple of hours and hope for the best. Its just such a worry when your not sure.
It fed the day before I got it, hopefully its just the stress of moving house. She's about 6 months, only about 18 inches (can't get a good measurement cos she wiggles).
Cheers for the advice |

Thank goodness,
I had a peek in her viv early this morning and the pinkie was gone. She must have wanted some privacy to have her dinner. Just feel so much better knowing she has eaten, even if I missed seeing it.
Her viv is 16" by 8" deep and 11" high. Is that big enough?
Also do you advise feeding outside the viv in future? Will it stop the snake striking when it gets hungry?
Thanks |

The viv is ample sized for the snake, it'll probably do it for a fair while as well.
Feeding outside the viv is an option, however notmuch can stop them from striking if they want to. Myself and several others prefer to feed outside the viv, to minimise chances of ingesting substrate and/or lower the risk of snakie thinking your hand is food when you go in to lift it out.
Others feed in the vivs, it's purely preference really. Pros and cons for both but it boils down to your choice.

i think it is better to feed in the viv...
there is more risk getting bit if the snake taking a snake out that knows there is food around...
I feed my royals and my corns in there vivs...and have never had a problem, and the food is warmed up really well..
One of my corns was very shy and i found putting her food inside an empty toilet roll helped her a lot...made her feel a bit more secure i guess..
Now she feeds without it and is doing great, it is just patience...
if she does not eat i would say leave her five days, trying to often can stress a snake out and cause them not to feed.. |
