Hey guys..
I just gave Jasper his quick bath, swam around a little and he did his thing.. (He's in there for 2 minutes and I take him out) I started to dry him off, but I spotted something on him..
There was a slightly raised scale, looked different from every other one.. And there was a little black dot on there :/ (It's about 3 inches away from his head) I use orchid bark, and he's usually on/under his piece cork bark.. So I thought that it might just be a speck; but he was swimming around in the bath, so surely it would've come off?
I tried to get a picture, but it's impossible to zoom in and get decent focus.. Let alone having him stand still :(
Any ideas? :( |

I'll add - nothing new has been added to his viv in at least a month and a half. Apart from a flower-pot; but I washed & disinfected it.
He eats fine, and is active.. Never seen him soaking in his water bowl either.
The little black spot doesn't move if I touch it.. It's the raised scale I'm worried about, a sign? :( He is also due a shed soon actually.. Last one was around 4/5 weeks ago.. But I haven't seen him go dull or in the blue :( |

I was going to do a full clean this weekend anyway.. Baking/Disinfecting etc.. And I have a spare viv that I can house him in while it's all being done, but what do I do about the specks on him?
And no Lee, I actually just put it straight it.. A mistake, I know :/ |

one of mine had a few raise scales from sitting still in the cold end for too long - if the scale was raised first then a bit of orchid bark could have got lodged underneath the raised end............ alternatively have you seen any of these black dots in the water bowl and has he been spending more time having a soak? if so it could be mites. |

He does spend a lot of time in the cold end.. And no, haven't seen any in the water.. And haven't ever seen him taking a soak..
Not a great pictue, but the best I could get..
I've baked/disinfected everything in his viv; cleaned his viv out.. and put down paper substrate down. But how long until I can put his old substrate in? |
