I got a healthy corn snake yesterday and it's my first snake, it seems quite settled in this morning, I handled it in the shop before I bought it and it's very friendly.

I was just wondering when to start handling after buying?

And it may sound a little stupid, but it has buried itself under it's water bowl, I don't think its stuck but would it be an idea to move the water bowl and put it to the bottom?

I conquer. Not sure why but mine loves getting wedged into tight spots.

Under his waterbowl, which is quite a big exo-terra one.. in a toilet roll holder when he tried the first time after I put in this evening half of hiim was hanging out LOL! And wedging him between my background and the back glass but his little escapades of that has stopped.

We had our corn snake (amel) yesterday, we've already had her out 4 times. Once she's out of her viv she is fine, we got told to handle her as often as we like.

Tango, leave your snake for a week to settle into its new home. Just change the water.

Hi when i went to her this morning she was on the front of her viv, i slide open the glass & she came on to my arm she really doesn't seem stressed.. . . .i tried to put her back in and she kept coming back out to me. She is 18 months old and i've been told she loves being on you and that she needs to get used to my sent? I can understand fully what you're saying and your concerns, she just seems so calm and not agitated in the slightest. I've used everything that was in her old viv, wood, cave, etc. What do you think?

i think you should leave her alone to settle in for a week! stress-related problems might be immediately apparent, i really don't see why you can't let her settle in

I would totaly agree with GP. Too many people assume (not a dig at you by any means) that because the snake isn't skuttling back into its viv, it wants to be held and cuddled. Snakes can't show you how they feel, I would leave her be. (Also, my corn probably comes out 2 hours a week, let alone a day)

if anything, the facy that she keeps coming out might be a sign thats she's trying to get away from the viv because she's stressed at you constantly being in her space. really not rtying to dig, but not letting her settle in can have major repurcussions in later times!
