Hi i have just purcahsed a 4 foot vavarium with a microclimate Ministat 100 which i slighty confused about then is one mains plug with a sesnsor in the viv but the heat mat seems to have been built into tank but is wired into the heater bit of the thermostat con somebody [please exsplain who this works as quite confused ?[/b]

The stat should plug into the mains and have the temp probe inside the viv. The heat mat should then be plugged into the stat.

Does that help? If not then PunkAsF82 is right, we need a pic.

its just i got viv 2nd hand and look like heat mat is very strangly wired into the stat and want to replace it and the heat mat

So instead of having the heat mat plugged into the stat, it's been hard-wired into the stat instead?

Is that what you mean?
If it has, then it's just not as easy to change the mat over, because then the stat has to be unscrewed and taken apart to remove the mat, which may possibly involve re-soldering to attach new mat.

Could you show us a piccy though, just so we can clearly see what's meant, cheers.

usually via a plug on the end of the heatmat cable, and a socket on the end of a cable from the stat.

cornsnakes, ratsnakes, bullsnakes, boas and day geckos
