hi there peeps, my corn has laid 17 eggs during the night as there's no male in the viv they are obviously slugs, do i have to get them out asap, will she be protective over them and strike out at me, this is her first clutch don't no wot to do thanks, got some pics for you to see though, dan

wow the virgin snake hehe. well no doubt shes going to be protective so likely to strike. wear gloves if ur going to attempt it. but before u do that hang out for tips from people who really know what they are talking about wiht snakes that lay eggs!

How long ago did you get her? Because they look ilke good eggs. Nice and fat and round.
If they are slugs, then they're near perfect. There's a couple that look a bit off, but the rest look good.

With my snakes in the past, I just lifted the female up, then moved the eggs. But all snakes are different, so caution will still be required.

is it normal for a snake to make eggs without a male, thought it was wierd, i feel so bad she got 17 eggs an shes mothering them cuddled round them an they never gonna hatch, i,ve had her a year and a half but shes about 3 years is this heard of thanx dan

Are you sure she'd never been co-habited before you got her? It's alot of eggs to have a slugs and they look really healthy. The bloke at my rep shop told me Corn snake can keep sperm inside them for years then 'use it' when theyre ready so if she mated before you got her they may proper eggs.

it is normal for snakes to produce "eggs" before they actuall mate. it's kinda like practice

sorry PA i've NEVER heard that before!

most of them look viable at first glance. if she has been with a male at all they can store sperm to be 'used' ata a later date though

cornsnakes, ratsnakes, bullsnakes, boas and day geckos
