Well cleaned out snakie yesterday as you know and at the top corners there are gaps between the background and grill. (exo-terra)

and i filled one gap with tissue and thought i did the same on the other side but left one tiny gap, less than a cm but woke up this morning to a very cranky snake between the background and back wall of my viv!!!

heres a picture to show what I mean. I have moved the background to that as to give him chance to slither himself out but seems definate on sitting there.

Sorry for the reflection of my arm. Going to have look side on though as I took it strangely.

Now I'm worried he's going to get too cold but should I leave him on the basis of, he got himself there he'll get himself out?

I've lifted the grill of twice but both times he's hissed and gone for me.

Help please!!

He might be hissing & going for you because he's a little stressed, so that could mean he's stuck, i would just man up & set him free(into the viv) if needs be put on some gloves :)

Ah problem solved!
As I had tilted the background it freed up a gap about 2cm so got him out of there fine from under the background put him in a box with his cave then fixed the background.
filled gaps;

side on again but note the tissue paper. Any better ideas how to fill these gaps?
/edit: He's in his cave now really still a bit sketchy so I'm gonna leave him for the rest of the day. see how he is tomorrow morning.

I've used aquarium filler, it's like silicone and not toxic at all. Don't know if that will do the job or if i've read right where the problem is and it can infact be used to solve. Also with the background, if it's just a paper one try blu-tacking it to the outside of the viv to avoid him getting stuck.

Oh God... Snakie is pro as great escape!
Went for a measure of him but guess what..

He's done it again but was calm about it this time just pulled back the background and got him. Got a measurement of 23 inches approx so grown approx 7 inches in 2 months.

Whether Storm approved... I don't know

Then put him in the bath after Operation Snake Recovery and Measure!

And laid a poo. Its true what they say much easier to clean and not like I watched him or anything but calmly had a turd in front of me and it really is interesting. So pulled him out of there when he finished, rinsed the uratey-pooey water away into the garden, poison mums plants!!!! and now disinfected and drying in the garden is his bath tub.

Gaps now filled with a blob of blu-tak (cheers Ninja never thought of Btack

To be honest all these problems you should have covered before you put him in there... ALWAYS prepare before hand then you wont run into any problems... it might injure him one of these days

agreed as much as you try to prepare they always somehow digg their way through. Im convinced though the exo terra backgrounds wiht the cable hide zones are faulty in design. Ive had two different backgrounds each secured well, but mystery still gets in.

Yeah I know what you mean.. the gap that the cable goes through behind the background is where he gets in i think;

I have slid the sliding thing across so he cant get through the extra holes and out that way
