Hey guys, so i get home from college today and the temp in emmets tank is at a constant 36*C or (about) 97-98*F. which is unusual, because it usually runs at 30-31*C. So i check why, and im pretty sure my stat is broke.
I went into the pet shop near college and they wont have stats in till next friday, we do have a rep shop close to where i live. The problem is i dont have time to go and buy one untill saturday, and neither does anyone else in my family, what with work.
I need suggestions on how to lower the temp a little untill satuday, thanks very much, Dean. |

Ouch.. 36c really is quite hot.
I don't really know what to suggest, as if you ordered next day delivery online; it still wouldn't be to you until friday :/ Have a look for any other rep shops that would sell one, or just get a standard thermostat from B&Q etc. |

Sounds like online delivery is the best way, i cant get to a shop any earyler that saturday because of college. What about putting somthing inbetween the mat and the stat, like a teatowel, would that reduce heat? Or increase it? |

check the position of hte prob. Mystery was shifting things in his cage which moved the stat prob. being an on off stat its not very accurate so i have a digital therm next to it. the movement caused the state to shift up to 46C insanely hot. took mystery out instantly. and repositioned it. its now back to normal temps. not sure how the hell it got so hot i must say but now its a stable 30 |

Thanks blackecho. i have him out of the viv atm just letting him slither around on my bed, im trying somthing out. I dont have him on proper substrate yet because hes reluctant to feed outside of the viv, so i tried putting more layers of teatowel down, just wating to see if the temp decreases. |

maybe provide him a thick materialed jump/cloth in his VIV whilst the heat matt is off. it'll act as a warming blanket during the evening, and itll be dark enough for him to hide in. |

If you are happy that it won't get too hot again, getting up to 100F for long periods can cause severe damage.
