does any one bake there substrate?

if so how long do you do it for and and at what temperature, also could you microwave it or is this asking for big trouble.

I have frozen mine the last few times but it takes ages to dry it out afterwards so will be baking the next lot. I can't remember what the recommeded temp is though.

With bark I put it in the microwave, about 2 mins for a large handful.
If I use the oven, it's usually about 20 mins at 200 celcius.

That's the times I use, others may differ.
I do find that the oven dries bark out better than the microwave, but you can also end up with scorched bark.

use aspen its betta than orchid and trouble free just remove snake to feed

Baking substrate?

Wow like Jac its a first to me [:s]

I just stick with Aspen buy in bales, easy to clean and no fannying around baking it or getting dust everywhere but the bits are a pain

Sometimes with microwaving, i've had the bark get very damp as well.
A bit of dampened orchid bark in a box on a heat mat makes for less hands on way to help with troublesome sheds as well.
