The reason snakes go misty and blue when they're starting thier shed is because their skin secretees a sort of oil that seperates the top layer from the new skin, and this oil is milky-white. After a few says, the oil goes clear and is absorbed into the the top layer of skin so that when it dries, the shed will come off easier and so that when it dries it won't rot and attract predators towards the exhausted slightly vunerable snake. This is why snakes seem to go clean BEFORE they've shed.
Hope this helps any worries :)
