Hi dunty, thanks I think she's pretty special! Am in Haltwhistle about an hour from Newcastle! Am getting desperate for a beardie but I have to wait as I need a driving license first my family tells me! Plus I want to make sure I get the set-up just right first, so I make as few mistakes as possible! Also wanting a gecko, in a smaller exoterra tank that I have, I just think snakes and lizards are fantastic, and I should have indulged my whims years ago!!! |

I'm getting concerned bout fred - she's 18mth, bout 3 an half ft long which is great but she seems tiny? her diameter is 4in so maybe I'm just stressing over nothing, she aint her usual self at the minute, pretty quiet, and when I lift her hide to get her, there's like a quiver down her back? She isnt rattling her tail at me which she does sometimes, I'm hoping someone here can give me a few pointers! |

i think the ridge down the back could be from either not enough water or food i read something about it somewhere but cant remember sorry i could be wrong |

hey! its aimee here, dan87s other half, my profile is not working iv just been reading the whole thread
about having two corns together... me and my other half have two male corns together, they are fine with eachother, we take them out to feed them but they are good together, they dont fight and they arnt stressed so i dont think its a problem keeping two together.
about the dehydration, do you change the water everyday? is the water bowl in the cool end cos snakes dont like to drink warm water.
we had a royal who had shedding problems so we put another bowl of water under the light we had to cause humidity. that worked quite well. the other thing to make sure of is that you get the skin off the end of the tail at every shed cos as its been said the tail can die and fall off
hope that helped ps... get another corn.. you know you want to lol |

Hi Aimee I do want another corn, but I also want beardie and a gecko for variation for the kids I look after and me - they are great tantrum relievers!!!!I had her on the stairs before as someone mentioned she may be a little overweight, and as I was watching her, the ridges appeared a lot more prominent I am beginning to think it may be a weight problem and more exercise is needed. When out she is basically lazy - she kinda just sits there then has a slow slither then a rest then a slither! |

Hi there Tom again;
About the water do you know what gets up to at night?
I caught mine before drinking at around midnight - 3am and thats probably why shes not been active, as shes been up all night and shes dozing.
About the ridge, I am not sure sorry. Her Tail again, might be a burn or a bad shed. Might not be a burn as such as it still pretty pointy, does she like you going near it? |

Hi Susan, if you gently pull her skin on the side of her body and it goes back quickly she is not dehydrated, it is pretty much the same as with any animal that lacks water, the skin might look kinda wrinkly if she is dehydrated..
my corn always drinks when her water is fresh, although it isnt as i have let it stand 48 hours before i give her it..lol..
How much does she weigh?
she is gorgeous by the way, great pics, she does not look underweight in the photos to me..

Hi wolfspirit thankyou! Her skin is not quite springing back but isnt wrinkly, so I think thats ok? She weighs 580gms, first time I ever weighed her, do you think thats ok? Oh and thanks for the compliment on the pix, I think she's a bit of a stunner and I'm finding it very hard to decide on a beardie or another corn!!! |

yeah that would be great aimee, always like looking at others to see the different morphs and types of snake - makes it even harder for me to decide what i want! |

Me again! I moved Freds moss box to the cooler end of the tank, but she immmediately went back to her heat mat!!! She is really dry and flaky along her back, and doesnt look like she is about to shed anytime soon. I have put her in the bath tonight, she wasd in there for about ten minutes and went to toilet while there as usual, and have moved her moss box back to the heat mat. Will check it every morn an eve to make sure it hasnt dried out! As for her tail, its very white and hard right at the tip, I read somewhere on here that she may lose it, will this happen by itself? Sorry everybody, I just want a happy, healthy snake!!
