I am going to build my own viv but wanted to no if it is safe to build it out of mdf or would i have to get melamine.

MDF will become mouldy and damp if you dont coat it. Melamime looks alot better. Im not sure which is cheaper.

Do you live anywhere near an Ikea? they have a wood/coated contiboard recycling bin in the carpark - you can get loads of stuff for free and they always have stacks when it's been sunny coz people stop hording it for their wood burners.

MDF can also give off harmful gases in confined spaces if not well coated.

i am about half an hour away from an ikea so i'll check it out free sounds good thanks tizzy.
and i think i'll leave the mdf if it gives of gases wasent awear of that thanks blackecho

mdf also looks rubbish - just plain, at least conti has wood `effect`
