they tend to get internal parasites eg. worms from eating an infested mouse. snakes would naturally have a worm-burden in the wild but then they'd poo some of the worms/eggs out and move on somewhere else, avoiding reinfestation. it's not generally a problem with captive bred snakes eating commercial mice but keep an eye on your snake's poo, worms themselves are easily spotted during a quick clean. they're easily treated with an anthelmintic such as panacur 2.5% should the need arise. |
