what is the best substrate, at the mo i use wood chip but thinking about a change all advice welcome thanx

Also, out of curiosity, what wood chip is it?? i.e Beech, Oak etc

i have tried wood chippings and aspen, i find wood (beech) chippings alot better, apsen just makes a mess and sticks to everything, when you go to get the snake out or the water bowl or anything for that matter, its near enough impossible to avoid spilling some of the aspen all over your floor.

That is true,i would prefer to change to chipings but i just think that they keep their selfs more occupied with tunneling in aspen.

looking at my records of my snake i have cleaned his entire viv out and replaced substrate on average of every 3 months . so not too much hassle

i thought it was everymonth, just cleaned out my snakes substrate etc and fed, so going to leave him awile to settle, his saddles are really pink for a snow corn

I like Auboise, its cheap and soft and digestible (not that they ever eat it!).

on my last mouse run i picked up a 14 kilo bag of aspen for 18 quid, should last while i think
