ok when i got into the world of exotic pets my first interest was tarantulas and i already had 2 species of tarantula before i got my beloved corn snake- blake. now i own 3 species of tarantula. the ultimate being my goliath bird eater, very huge , and would give anyone with a fear of spiders the ultimate nightmare. tarantulas shed their skins too but in top quality art condition and can even imitate the real living tarantula unlike snake skin which is seethrough and thin. thats what i like most about tarantulas is that they can almost duplicate themselves when they moult. my spiders have moulted a few times and i always have a go at remounting the skin to fill it back out, fix any damaged parts and prop it in such a way that it looks like the real spider that owns it. check out this video, its the closes ill ever get to handling my goliath bird eater tarantula bluetonguedan you are gonna love this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCUtLK7jA3I copy and paste the link

You did a good job with that moult. I've never gotten a moult from my Blondi, I don't know what it does with them! |

does your goliath moult under the soil level or under its hide? if so check under there. how long you owned the spider, if not for long it may have not even moulted yet. since i have owned mine she has moutled twice with an 18month gap in between them. males once mature will not moult again bare in mind. |

It moults in its hide but doesn't have the temperment to allow me to move things round to look. It's moulted numerous times, I've had it since it was quite small. I just never see the cast offs, no idea where they go.
When I first got it (that's a coke bottle lid)
It's just moulted again but this was before it moulted, haven't got a new pic just yet. It's about hand sized now. The hide is the largest reptile cave I could find on sale.

oh nice, yeah it is more than likely that it moulted under the hide etc. good to see you have raised it from a juvenile too lots of people i know have lost alot of young ones due to the humidity and temperature needs etc. touch wood i hve had no problems with mine i dont use thermomemters humidity gauges or anything with mine now lol i used to but the moist atmospher used to ruin them, so with 2 successfull moults i know that im caring for mine properly lol |

I've got slings and juvis of various species and never lost one yet. I think part of the reason people lose young spiders is just going overboard. I keep all my spiders at room temperature and aside from the occasional mist most are at the rooms ambient humidity. I keep the substrate damp for my Blondi though, aim for around 80% humidity but it does fine at 70% as well. |
