Hi all My friend has an adult corn snake approx 3 yrs old that seems pretty poorley. His last shed didnt go well leaving the dry skin around his head. She left him alone and was told that the skin around his head will come off in the next shed. Since then he has had a really patchy shed with the odd flake coming off and his head still covered. His mouth is partly open and keeps yawning as if he is struggling to breath. There is a moss box in there and the temps are fine. and he is eating well. Any advise would be greatly appreciated |

any wheezing sounds? bubbles from the mouth or nose? visible mucous? (would indicate an RI) has she tried giving him a bath in luke warm water about an inch deep for 10 mins then letting him run through a towel to get any stuck shed off? |

Mouth rot can also be a cuase of the snake not closing its mouth. |

stomatitis, good call, hadn't thought of that yet
Mitch, is your friend able to open the snakes mouth? if there's anything in there resembling cottage cheese, or any covering of the mouth that's white-yellow or a scab? |

A healthy mouth should be a light pink. Also check the sides of the viv on floor level for any mucus. |
