My new corn snake James looked to have a slightly blue sheen to his head last time we got him out (about three days ago), and today when we got him out he had blue eyes...does this mean he will shed? His eyes will go back to being clear and then a week later he should shed, is that right?
Is there anything we need to do for when he sheds? Any adjustment to the temps? will he feed okay and should we feed as normal (he has just been moved up to two pinkies a week)? He was last fed just over two days ago, so should we feed this Friday as planned?
Thank you in advance for any answers, sorry for all the questions i'm just excited about his first shed with us
Yep your pretty spot on, it can be anything from 2 days to a week before James will shed. No special treatment needed really just leave him alone till his eyes go clear as he can't see properly so you may spook him. Some corns wont eat while in shed but give him a try anyway it's never stopped my gready lot.
Yea its confirmed i noticed on Wed my baby Amel has roughish skin and didnt want to be handled i just looked at him and his eyes are coudy.. tho he was fed on Monday but they can go anywhere uotp a Month wihtout food so you dont need to worry about him starving.. i cant wait untull its done :) I havent held him since Monday night lol and im getting frustrated!
Mine is the same, tried to feed him thursday and was not interested at all which is unusual. Then Friday and saturday his eyes clouded over. Tried to get him out today but was really skitty which is unusual again. Im just going to leave him to it for a few days just making sure he has clean water. Fingers crossed for a whole shed on the first time with me!!!
