Brads, I have a couple of pics of the setup for my daughter's corn here (http://www.thecornsnake.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1996), but here's a pic of the temp/stat probes:
I think the stat probe should maybe a bit lower in the substrate but I've just tweaked what the stat is set to, so it keeps the temp correct judging from the thermometer.
Hope that's some help, but I'm a newb myself :) |

Cheers for the photo neil. how did you make the hole for the probes drill or melt? Any more pics anyone?
Right lets talk heat. I haven't looked this up yet. What temp do I need the babies faunarium to be? And where do the probs for the thermo need to be placed? on the heat matt side or the cooler side of the viv. Is the same temp needed for young snake and adult?........sorry so many questions but I'm getting well in to this now!!
Cheers Brads |

I used a small screwdriver and just kept twisting it round until it drilled through the plastic - didn't take long and it made a surprisingly clean hole and made less noise and mess than my drill would have (ok, I admit, I couldn't be bothered getting the drill out, but the screwdriver did the job fine!)
The temp/probe needs to be on the hot side of the viv, so that when your heat mat covers 1/3 to 1/2 of the viv you get the thermal gradient from correct temp to cool so the snake can thermoregulate.
I think the temps they like are usually listed as 21-30°C (70-86°F) but I've seen slight variations between sites and pet shops! I usually go by the care sheet from this site. Not sure if adults and hatchlings need the same temp though. |

Go for 27-30 on the hot side, and around 22-ish for the cool side. (*C) |
