I have two baby corns currently in one faunarium which has them partitioned off from each other. The time has come to upgrade them as they are outgrowing their space. I have two vivariums ready for them but they are still too small for those. I wondered whether I could stack another faunarium on top of the original one. The reason I ask is that I have a heatmat taped to the part of the underside as their heat source. If I had anoter on top with a heatmat attached to the underside, would the faunarium underneath get too warm.
I was working on the theory of hot air rising but thought I would ask anyway.
a heat mat would only heat the subtrate of each faunarium but it might be worth puting a piece of cardboard and foil under the top mat to raise it up.hth
You could do what we do with Wilbur and Tempo and have a larger mat that is shared by both faunarium. That way it safes on electricity and you only need one stat
Thats a thought! I currently have the faunarium on a shelf in the lounge. I could do bunkbeds on there but not side to side I don't think. Worth measuring though as I have a bigger mat which came with 2 foot viv including all interior decor and lamp (red viewing one) ALL FREE hooray!!! Off my local freecycle. Lucky girl eh?
if the bottom faun has ventilation in the lid but not round the sides then very little fresh air will get to the snake in the bottom one, if there's vents in the sides then ventilation shouldn't be a problem.
