Gordon never comes out of hiding. My other corns were in wooden vivs and were keen explorers. Could it be coz he is in a glass tank too big for him atm or that the substrate (newpaper atm) is not to his liking?

I had this problem when I first got cecil, are at least two of the sides of the viv covered as they can be quite aggorophobic. hope this helps.

lost track of the day's now, but I'm getting my amel stripe corn on the 2nd of August!!!

hiya dannisgordon, how big is you glass tank? I re-read your 1st post and it said your gordon is a baby, so if the glass tank is too big he could be feeling a little insecure and feel safer hiding, or it could just be he is still settling in to his new home, I have no personal experience with a corn so young so not sure if this is usual behaviour while settling in.
My Snape is over a year and some nights he stays in his hide, and doesn't come out, just moody!!

It is always better to give them a small viv to make them feel secure.
Plus eejit had a good idea by adding sides to your tank to help. You can buy that backing from most reptile and fish shops quite cheap and it would definately help.

If the tank is too big you could make a partition as mentioned in another topic to save buying a smaller one also ^^

if you have more height than floor space and a good branch you might find them coiled on top of the branch more than in the hide

1 amel
1 okeette
2 normals
1 rosy rat x
3 royals

1 cali king
1 publean milk
1 yemen chameleon

started to get that with cecil in his 2' viv. got a red led light on the side and often find him coiled up on it, not warm so can't be for the heat, just a good obs. perch.

I changed from chippings to aspen and Snape loves it, he is always burrowing in the aspen, I know some peoples snakes still burrow in chippings but he never did so i'm glad I changed.

Sandy rarely can be found in any of her hides. She always digs herself up. I wish she would come out more.
