Corn snakes are the ideal begginer snake
They only eat rodents, but chicks are an option for a treat or increasing weight
They dont need a bulb for heat, you can use a heat mat, but a low heat bulb is good for display
viv size: lenght of snake = depth + lenght of viv

welcome to the forum by the way

Welcome to the forum, you do have to make sure your viv or RUB is secure as they are the masters of escape.

Corn snakes are brill first snakes, but they can escape if your careless, if your thinking about it it's worth spending some time with a hatchling and a fully grown snake to make sure you like both. You'll find loads of help and advice on here, everyone is very friendly.
