Yeah, I like it here myself
I read that Miamis, the original native corn of Miami, were 'maroon and pearl grey' but I understand that Serpenco in America have done a lot of breeding with this 'phase' or morph.
I bought a little Miami last May (out of sentimentality as he/she has only one eye.) Cyclops (Cy) is chestnut brown/deep buff or gold on a paler background with some black. But I've since seen such snakes described as 'normals'. Now I thought 'normal' was the rich rust/buff/black 'Carolina' phase (or morph.)
But I'm really ignorant about morphs, so hope someone will be along soon with more knowledge! |

Normals/Carolinas can vary greatly in appearance. If you upload some pics im sure somebody could tell you wether Cy was indeed a miami or a normal.

I certainly wouldn't have thought he was a miami. |

Thanks Danny and Jamie - I've got some pics of Cy already on photobucket - what I can't work out is - do I start posting and then access pics from pb or go to pb BEFORE I post? Haven't worked that one out yet ...
And it's getting late - I don't expect detailed answer at this time of night!
Thanks again. |

Hey, When my corn snake becomes an adult what size should the viv be for 5ft snake?? Also what do you feed a corn snake as it gets older and bigger from hatchling to adult? So many other sites say different things...By the way thanks for the other information guys...Cheers |

Mmmm, well, there are so many opinions on size of vivs - me, I'm of the lots of room and lots of hides school, but there are plenty of people who'll disagree with that ... As for feeding, I always thought that they progressed nicely from pinkie to fuzzy to small mouse and so on ... They don't. A young snake on pinkies will sometimes feed and then nuzzle round for more, as if to say, 'was that IT?' The answer to that is to feed two pinkies, and eventually sometimes three, by which time snakey will have grown big enough to move on to fuzzies, and so it starts again.
A good rule is to work out one and a half times the snake's girth and don't feed prey bigger than that.
They are all different, and develop in different ways. I do find this a very helpful forum, though, with good advice. All the best. |
