Hello there folks. This is just a general corn and king snake post.

I started of my collection with my Mexican Milk, and was told (and read) that they are very shy. I then got my MBK which I knew would be a bit more feisty.
I then got two corns in quick succession. Now I don't know whether I read it or was told it, but I was under the impression that corns would be a lot shyer and reserved than my King and Milk.

But it's the other way about. My corns are indeed very calm, they've never struck or rattled at me, but they're not shy at all. As soon as I open they're vivs to spot clean or change water they are straight out to see what's happening.
The Milk snake will stay out if he's already out and about, but he won't come out for a nosy, whilst the MBK (who's definitely the most aggressive) makes a run for it as soon as I go near the viv. In fact he won't come out at all if he thinks I'm watching.

Does anyone else who keep both species notice the same thing?

Although some species are more relaxed than others you also have to think about the snake itself. I have corns who are feistier than other corns and none of mine come out for a nosey when your fidling with stuuf in their fauns.

Not so sure on the mexi black king or the mexican milk though. Although my sister does have a peublan milk which is quite skittish, but has never struck.

ive got both corns and kings, and dont have any hassle wth either they are both very placid and inquisative

What youve got to remember is that all snakes are different, they have their own personalities, and wont be stereotypical just because it says so somewhere.

i have a pair of honduran milks and they like to hide away most of the time - they prefer to run away if they feel threatened, but some days they won't hesitate to take a chomp out of my fingers if they're in a grumpy mood :D
