Hi to all, I was just wondering if anyone knows if a solid pine viv would be ok for my little girls snake as I have just started to build one. Its only I saw someone said that pine is txic to snake? Ive never heard that before myself so any feedback on this would be really helpful.

Thanks, Mark.

As far as I am aware pine is toxic to snakes but the others will be on soon and will be able to tell you more

Pine exudes phenols (I think) which yes, are toxic to snakes.

ok, thanks all, what about if line the inside with 2-3mm non-toxic plastic sheeting (which i was going to do on the bottom, sides and back anyway as it would be easier for cleaning) on all the inside surfaces then seal the edges with non-toxic sealant? any thoughts?

Ok, fair enough, thanks to all of you for your help and thoughts, im sure the pine will get used to build something else.
