Hi guys and gals. I've not posted any pics of Alice for a very long time, so...........

I was fortunate enough to catch Alice begin the process of shedding her skin today. It was really cool watching her try to break the skin on her nose 1st. Then after she'd peeled back the top of her head, she started to work on her lower jaw.

Oh yeah, and she's now 768g. But she doesn't look overweight, does she??

Hope you like

Oh wow Mark! Those are the most amazing pics of a shed I have ever seen ! Have seen Kellog shed a fed times (once caught the last part on camera but the pics were no-where near as good as yours!) but have never seen him start to shed...so I love the first couple of pics.

It really is an indescribable thing to watch them shed..... Having watched all of Kellog's sheds since we got him he has now decided to shed at night the last 2 times. Silvesta has shed once with us so far and that was done in the half hour between me going to bed and coming back down cos I couldnt sleep - I am sure lots of snakes do it on purpose, just so there owners can get frustrated at missing them shed !!

How old/long is Alice now? Kellog is about the same weight, 4 and a half years old and approx 4'5" long. He is fed on one jumbo mouse every 10 days, but I am looking at moving him to every 2 weeks. What is Alice feeding on, how often?

She certainly doesnt look overweight to me, but I am NO EXPERT! Sounds bizarre, but if you cut her in half what would her cross-section look like? A healthy snake would look like an arch, an overweight snake would be round. Also, when she is lying relaxed (laid out, not in a coil) can you see skin between her scales? Again, that is the sign of an overweight snake.

She is really beautiful and looks like a healthy snake in a lovely viv set-up. Well done.

xxx

I'm not sure how old she is, we've only had her 10 months. She is about 4ft 4in.

For comparison, Casper is 7 years old, 5 foot 6 inches long, and weighs 715g (at last weigh).

Wow, fabulous pics. I saw Twilight shed from start to finish once but was so amazed by what I was watching I forgot to get the camera until right at the very end. Well done for having the presence of mind to 'catch the action'.

Casper has always been the sort of snake to just get longer instead of chunkier, though he looks great as he is and doesn't need to get any bigger.

He is very fit, very strong and very active when he should be.

I think that you know your snake best and whether he is in prime condition or not.
