If we're talking Corns, then in nature they would be used to grass.

However, in a large open space on short grass they may become nervous to attacks from hunting birds.

I've had mine out in the garden before to let them have a slither and they seem to enjoy it, especially on a sunny day.

The corns in our barn never went out on the grass that we saw. The garter snakes did and in broad daylight, but I never saw the wild corns out of our barn.

That's interesting because everything I read before I got Snickers said not to put your cornsnake out on the ground because that's how they get mites and other infections.

Mites and infections don't live in grass, the main thing to watch for is that they don't get too cold. Like BE said, on a warm summers day its nice for them to go outside for a short while.

parasites can be picked up from grass and care should be taken to not put your snake down where cats have pooed or weed

When we have cats living next door who like to poo on our steps and patio just to repulse our dog, how am I supposed to think they aren't pooing in our grass?

Grow the grass like I used to, on small trays with sterile soil.

Oh now that is just too cool. Talk about incredibly pampered snakes. One question - do you have a mini lawn mower for it?
