Steve is about 3 and a half months old, measuring about 14/15 inches, weight 12g last time i weighed him on Sunday.

He takes one small pinkie very easily every 5 days now and actually took the pinkie from the tweezers for the first time on his last feed
I need to start weighing his pinkies now, do i weight them frozen or once defrosted?
Also for Steve's size what would be the recommended amount of pinkies and weight to give him? He had his last pinkie on Sunday night so is due another tomorrow but he has been out and about the last 2 days almost as if he is looking for more food.

This is the feeding chart off the forum, not sure who first made it, but its been around alot...

1 Pinkie (0.5g- 3g) – 5 days (Snake 4g-15g)

2 Pinkies (3g-4g) – 5 days (Snake 16g-23g)

Small Fuzzy (3g-6g) – 6 days (Snake 24g-30g)

Fuzzy (7g-9g) – 6 days (Snake 30g-50g)

Fluff/Hoppers (10g-12g) – 6 days (Snake 51g-90g)

Small Adult (13g-18g) – 7 days (Snake 91g-170g)

Large Adult (19g-25g) – 7 days (Snake 170g+)

If steve is 12g then according to the chart he should be on 1 pinkie. But the chart is just a guide. If you think he looks hungry after 1 pinkie then try 2.

He is towards the top end of that chart anyway.

Since i got stella i have fed her more than the chart says she should have, she is growing well.

I weigh my pinkies and fuzzys when i get them frozen, i have also weighed them defrosted and it makes little difference, as long as they arent covered in loads of ice when frozen.

Stella was on 2 x 2g pinkies at steves weight.

She soon got onto 1 x 2g and 1 x 3g, then 2 x 3g, then more recently a 5g fuzz and 3g pink.

She is doing really well on 2 prey items per feed, and you can step up the total feed weight gradually.

You will find what works for you and steve though eventually.

Gaz

This chart is a ROUGH guide remember-

-Single pinks (2-3g) every 5-6 days. (Snake = 4-15g)
-Double pinks (3g x 2) every 5-6 days. (Snake = 16-23g)
-Small fuzzies (5-7g) every 6-7 days. (Snake = 24-30g)
-Regular fuzzies (7-9g) every 6-7 days (Snake = 30-50g)
-Hoppers (9-12g) every 6-7 days (Snake = 51-90g)
-Weaned (14-20g) every 7 days (Snake = 91-170g)
-Adult (20-30g) every 7-x days (Snake = 170+)

I have never weighed my snakes food, I just go by what I think my snake needs.

Maybe start giving him larger pinkies at the next feed, and see how he goes from there. x

Thanks Gaz that's a great help, knew i had seen that chart somewhere just didn't know where..lol
Will try him on the 2 smallest pinkies i have tomoz to see how he goes, i have about 2 tiny ones left that are probably only about 1g each.
The others i have are a bit bigger so will weigh them all and sort into sizes and use the smallest ones first.

Dont want to be going against what S.B has suggested, didnt realise we posted at the same time.

See what other people suggest, feeding 2 x pinkies worked well for me, maybe feeding 1 x larger pinkie is the way to go.

I always thought that if she refused the 2nd then at least shes had a meal in her, if i offered her 1 larger one and she refused then shes missed a meal.

Thanks SB.

Im still learning alot myself.

When i see a question i can answer, i try to offer my experiences as opposed to just say 'THIS IS RIGHT' 'THAT IS WRONG'.

I usually tell people that what i do and what works for me may seem completely wrong to someone else.

Like you say, we have all got different opinions, i would never tell someone that they are WRONG just because its different to what i think.

Thanks for the comment Steve, arguments are pretty rare on here, by and large the entire forum is a friendly place to be.

Thats the main reason i love this forum.

Im a member on a couple of body-building forums and strongman forums. You cant post on there without getting shot down in flames and someone asking where abouts you live so they can come and kill you, lol.

Sorry Gaz I didnt catch you post till I had replied.
The thing is everyone has different ways of doing things and it just my opinion but a lot of it has to do with what works best for your snake which we all find out by tweaking things and gradually learning by trial and error. I have noticed myself that what works for one snake wont nessesarily work for another as they are all individuals and as such have individual needs. Seems to me the members of this forum know that and respect eachothers opinion which is nice to see.
And sorry I have just completely hijacked this thread sorry mom

Personally, if it was me, i would give him a 2g + 1g, then 2 x 2g, keep him on this for a couple of feeds.

Then 3g + 2g and so on.

If he is devouring them. I did this with Stella and she has grown well since ive had her.
