Just thought some of you would like to know Candy has settled right in and is now displaying some of her character and I am happy to say she is bright alert with lots of tongue flicking and bright shiney eyes. She has been exploring her new surroundings and I am happy to say I am at a point with her where i can see (with an uphill struggle) a recovery on its way. Obviously there is still a long long way to go but considering what she has been through she is a proper little fighter. Last night I was changing her water and she was out so i layed my hand out in front of her to let her get used to my smell expecting her to shy away and she crawled straight onto it! I thought what a bolshi little madam she is and took the opportunity to quickly get a closer look at her and all seems to be in order she just suprised me with how bolshi she is for such a small snake.
So much so that we have renamed her xena after the warrior princess.
I will of course keep you updated on xenas progress but I just wanted to say thank you for all the encouragement I feel a lot better for knowing i got you guys behind me in this challenge.

Cheers

Steve

Such brilliant news! I am so glad Xena (fab name btw!) has settled in so well, and the fact she felt confident enough to climb on your hand really proves how much she is appreciating her new life and second chance!!

Cannot wait to see pics of her once she is fully settled in, she sounds like a very special snake. x

thanks SB she is a special snake. I will take some pics next week when I know she has properly settled in. Incidently she is a candycane (hense her last name). Pretty little thing she will look stunning when she is a bit bigger

Steve, that is so great to hear. I was wondering how she was settling in. It's lovely to hear that she is full of inquisitiveness despite what she has been through and it sounds as though the two of you are going to have a wonderful relationship.

I can't wait to see some pictures, candycanes are one of my favourites (yeah I know I have alot of favourites lol).

Xena is a fabulous name for her x

Xena is definitely the perfect name for her, considering what she has survived and to still come out of it fighting the way she has.

It is lovely to hear how well she has settled in, and a lot of that has to do with the way you have prepared for her so that her transfer into a fully functioning and welcoming new home was as easy and stress free as possible.

It does sound as though she is going to turn into a beautiful snake and it is great to hear that she is already showing her personality and is so bright and alert. The fact that she is showing no fear of you is just amazing.

She is definitely in the right place to support her recovery and it sounds as though you have gained a beautiful new warrior princess!

just thought id let some of you know xena had a pinky tonight. Snatched it right out of my hand and gobbled it down in under 2 mins with no help at all so she was obviously hungry.

Well pleased

GAZ, I leaving her today and tomorrow to digest that pinky then I will do a photoshoot on the weekend and perhaps next time I feed her I will have the camera at hand. I need to take some piccys of colin too but havent got the hang of putting them on here. I tried before and made a right **** up of it and one of the guys on here sorted it out for me but when i get some new ones i will have another go. I cant believe how savagely she took it out of my fingers. She defo has the right name now she is a proper feisty little madam, a real fighter. She was even looking for more and I could have prob got two down her but I dont want to overload her system I going to take some advice I got on here and try feeding her every five days with just one pinky for a while see how she gets on and maybe when she has put a bit of weight on and maybe shed again I may try taking her up to two and feed her every seven days instead. She desperatly needs to put some weight on I think a lot of you will be suprised how small she is for a snake thats sposed to be eight or nine months old. My rep dealer said when he saw her he has hatchies that are bigger than she is.
But I will say this she defo is a xena thats for sure I dont think she going to go down without a fight bless her.
