I spoke to my rep dealer about this. He apparently breeds all his own and he reckons its down to the method which they are killed. Dont quote me on this but he said some producers use carbon monoxide to kill their mice which can leave them with a strange smell. Like i said dont quote me i just passing on what i been told

I know for sure my fuzzies dont stink, they barely smell at all, the only time I've had a stinky mini mouse is after leaving it for 24hrs in the hot side of the tank. The way I see it is, my live rodents dont smell bad - so surely if the frozen ones smell bad then there must be something decomposing or wrong in there! I'm not an expert, I'm just going on what frozen meat/food I eat and give to my snakey!
