I have been a little worried about Stella's temps lately.

I read a thread on here the other day saying that over-activity can be caused by too much heat in the faun.

So i put my digital thermometer in the hot end last night and checked that my digital stat was accurate, i then logged the temps overnight (my thermometer recordws highs and lows).

My cold end was lowest 16.6 and hottest 20.1.
Usually sitting around 18c.

My Hot end was reading 28c on the stat, 28.7c on the thermometer, so pretty accurate there.

The temps in the hot end over night got to lows of 26.9 and highs of 30.1.

How are these looking?

Basically 18c cold and 28c hot MOST of the time.

Thanks

I didnt mention above, the reason for my concern is that she is REALLY active.

She hides for 48 hours after a feed, then thats it, she is all over the place, exlporing and trying to escape untill feed day.

The hot end sounds ok but the cols end it a little chilly maybe, if you can try and raise it to around 22-24c it would be better.

Is there anything else about her setup that could be causing her stress? Open spaces, vibrations from a tv set, pets, high traffic etc?

Thanks, I will try to raise the room temp slightly.

There isn’t anything I can think of.

She feeds great and is a pleasure to handle so I didn’t think she was stressed.

Could stress cause over activity? I thought she would hide away if stressed?

Thanks

Sorry Gaz, my post was worded badly, was supposed to be causing her TO stress?

In my experience though, stress can cause either hiding or overactivity, especially constant looking for the escape!!

Im not sure that she is tyring to escape exactly. I know thats what i said.

She is just ALWAYS out and about, up to the plastic, sometimes pushing her nose against the lid and isnt shy AT ALL!

I just thought it was a bit strange as alot of people say there corns hide away alot, she used to hide all the time, i had to look for her, but now 9 times out of 10 she is out and about.

Thanks

I think if your corn it pushing at the walls or the lid then it wants to be beyond them... therefore it is trying to get out!!!

How much do you handle her?

Okay thanks.

I handle her every day for 5-10 mins.

Except 48 hours after a feed obviously.

Casper is very active of a night, but hides all day. She is also constantly climbing up the sides, although i don't know wether she is trying to get out or wether it is just because she likes sitting on the little ledge at the top lol.

Thanks danny.

What do other people think?

Is there cause for concern? Or is this possibly just her temperament?

Well, Dimika tends to stay in during the day, but out of all the corns in the world, there's bond to be am exception. That exception being Stella But I wouldn't worry if I were you, she may just be a little confused about light patterns? Do you have any on during the day or at night?

Im thinking its maybe just her and its her personality?

Her light patterns are always the same, at night its always pitch black and in the day its just daylight.

Thanks

Are you sure Stella is a her? 'Her' behaviour is almost like Kellog's was when he went horny, although he went off his food as well which 'she' obviously hasnt.

Just a thought....

Only reason I mention it is cos recently 2 forum members discovered their 'girls' were actually boys, when they started showing this sort of behaviour....but again it did come with them losing their appetites, so I doubt it could be why Stella is behaving why 'she' is.

my boy corns arent acting any differently and tbh they are a bit older than Stella,

tbh it could be your temps or she might just be really active - my Aura is constantly out and about atm and i know thats just her being her..she used to have quiet periods and then busy periods

Thanks Kellog and Hannah.

I think my temps are pretty good apart from the cold end dropping slightly in the night, but she is usually in the hot end at night anyway.

She is moving into her viv soon so i will monitor her temps then and if need be get her a heat mat for the cold end to keep it at 20c.

Thanks
