hiya
Im new to keeping snakes and I wondered what you guys use for a feeding tub? I have just fed Elmo for the first time in the viv as I dont have a tub, I was pleased that both pinkies were eaten with relish but I dont want to feed inside the viv again for fear Elmo might think I am dinner next time I try to take him out. Thanks in advance. |

Yes, and also you don't want substrate going in with the food, so good idea to feed outside. I use takaway tubs mainly, and the little boxes the hatchies came in when they arrived home.

On advice from Those Who Know in here- I went to the 99p shop and bought a Tupperware box and made some holes in it

| i use RUB's (really useful box) to feed my snakes. i was using 3lt ones but just got some 5lt as they are abit bigger. they are well worth having around.. |
  
2 male corns (Bilbo and roger)
1 female corn (lizzie)
2 dogs westies (jock & morag)
5 mirror carp
3 common carp
3 tench
5 gold fish |

| how old is your snake?? if its a baby i would go for the 5lt one as it will last you abit longer... |

| whatever you go for i'd personally recommend something with a lid so if you have a shy feeder you can cover the tub and leave the snake undisturbed without fear of it escaping... |

As said above, im using a box similar to what chinese take-aways come in, the plastic clear tubs.
I just put the lid loosely over while she feeds and it works great.
There are loads of different sizes in Morrisons for when she gets a little bit bigger, they are only £2-£3 each and with a quick wipe out with reptile disinfectant are good as new for the next feed.
I have also got a bigger one for putting her in when i clean the faun out.

I use a washing up bowl! I pop Casper in there, give her the mouse then I retreat to the corner of the room leaving her in peace to feed.
Because the bowl does not have a top it allows me to easily keep a close eye on her while she feeds, and it is also really easy to clean afterwards! |

They're less likely to escape with a gob full of mickey as long as its a tall bowl, she shouldn't have a problem just be ready as she will be going for a scoot when she's done, so be there to get her.
It is VERY important NEVER to leave you snake alone whilst feeding. The occasional check like GP said for shy feeders just in case they have some problems.
No quick movements, i startled Blitz when he was eating because I was moving around in the end of his viv.. |

When you have fed Elmo in whatever container you use you need to leave it til the bump is near his middle then either gently hold box in doorway of viv to allow him to slide out or you can pick him up gently, making sure you dont lift him where the bump is, and move him straight into the viv - no handling!
