or elaphe slowinskii..it's basically a corn snake that isn't an corn snake, for those who don't already know.
My local reptile shop has some hatchlings in and they're so cute, but they do look very much like normal corn snakes, yet they're a different species and stuff. They mentioned that their colours are different when they're adults, and I'm just wondering, does anyone here have any Slowinskii's corns? If so, pics pleeease ^_^.
I'm seriously considering buying the hatchling..

How can you be sure that the hatchling you buy isnt just a normal corn?

Well, mainly since its got slightly different colouring, the saddles seem really dark reddish/grey, whilst the rest of it is grey, whilst its belly markings seemed that same dark reddish/grey...also, I guess I do trust my local reptile shop. Don't worry, I'm not being niave or anything, but they're one of the few who seem to know what they're doing and stuff.

EDIT: I just looked at the pictures. The colouring seems to match the reddish half of the bottom left snake.
The hatchling is £69...hm..a bit pricey, but probably since I'm comparing prices with normal corn snake hatchlings.

Just to say, i personally think that these snakes are rather ugly. The head in the top left photo is so square... it really does nothing for me!

Although i can easily see why at one point, before being classified as a species in their own right, they were seen to be an intergrade between a Corn Snake and a Great Plains Rat Snake. The head shape and body markings certainly do look like an intergrade of the two species.

Yeah, the one on the left looks like a grass snake. But each to their own. .
They look like rat crosses, if thats what they actually are?

They are not rat crosses, they have been designated as their own species after previously being thought to be corn/great plains rat intergrades

Lol, we'll just leave that to the taximonists ^^; (Is that the right word?) I dunno, the hatchling I saw in the shop was adorable. I like the look of the snake..but unfortunately, I recently realised that there's no way I can afford it. BT are trying to rip me off for something >.<
