Aspen, beech chippings, newspaper, kitchen roll, shredded paper- these are the best ones!

Yeah kitchen roll or paper is best when they're hatchlings until yearlings. Then move onto beech chippings or (my snake's favourite) aspen. Corns love it as its light and they can burrow through it easily. Its available most decent reptile stores or on the net. I bought some last week on 888reptiles.com at a cheap price. Bought 26 litres for £9. that will last me best part of a year!

kitchen roll for babies, hemp for older snakes :)

be careful with shredded paper that it isn't too dusty

Billnyati - There are lots of pictures in the photo section. http://www.thecornsnake.co.uk/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=3

Rottiedog - Newspaper is perfectly fine, as is kitchen towel.

I personally use hemp for all of my snakes, it is FAR cheaper than aspen, is very similar in appearance, holds a tunnel well and is very absorbent.

when I got my hatchling the breeder had put sand in, it smelt so bad! it had absorbed so much waste! I moved her and straight away added aspen, and the first thing she did was move around burrowing under it :) that made me happy x

sand with a corn? never a good thing.

the amount of breeders who have given stupid advice or provided their livestock with incorrect facilities is unbelievable.

Not if you dry it out abit first, the humidity can also be usefull, i chuck a handfull of fresh in when snakey is blue to help with shedding they always burrow in the new bit so i think they appreciate it.
