Can you get a photo up of him, preferably next to a ruler of something to get an idea of scale. Its difficult to tell without seeing him but around that age mine was eating two every ten days. It sounds like he is still in "hunting" mode as he still might be hungry but, although you said he's 8 months old, they do grow at different rates.

maybe give him 2 small fuzzies - one of my royals strikes at everything after eating a mouse so on the next feed im going to try him with a mouse and a large fuzzy to see if that helps him at all

one fuzzy once a week..........and he's 8 months old? he could well be very hungry!
try offering him 2 per feed and when he's happy with that reduce your feeding interval to 5 days

if you up the food size then dont go straight down to 5 days.. give him 6 days and then when he has gotten used to the bigger feed then cut down to 6 days

try him with a larger meal and then go back to just a fuzzy and alternate for a few feeds to see how he does
