Same technique as last time, and again he was a bit resistive to start with, but took both quarter tails.
We cleaned the viv while he was resting in what is going to be his feeding box once he starts feeding normally.
Next half tail on Monday. The happy "parents" (Hawk and the Eye) are much relieved to see some food going in, hopefully it won't take long before he starts feeding normally, fingers crossed! |

Thanks. Now that he's feeding (although with some help) perhaps he'll start growing at long last. Hard to imagine that this cigarette-impersonator is going to become large enough for me to wear as a shoulder warmer one day |

Am so relieved to hear Shen is continuing to feed, even if it is just of bits of tail! It is a start and that is what you need. Your relief must be 100% more than my mine!! Now he has got a taste for pinkie tail hopefully he will like full pinkies when offered. Its great news Hawkeye. xxx |

Thanks Just a small correction: the tails came from a fully grown mouse so each quarter had some substance to it.
Next feed tomorrow, and I'm still not decided on whether to stick to the recommendation all the way, or should I give him 2/3 or a tails (instead of 2/4) and keep the last bit to scent a pinkie on the following feed. We'll see.

Hi Hawk and Eye,
Good luck with the feeding tomorrow, but we're sure you won't need it now Shen has the taste for food! We'd probably stick to the recommendations for a little longer then gradually increase the quantity. Will the scenting make much difference as they are both mice?
Again, good luck! Can't wait to hear how you get on! |

Agree with all the others Hawkeye....you dont want to shock his stomach - when it hasnt been used to any food suddenly having a pinkie might stuff him a bit! xxx |

Cool, I'll go with that. Now I'm wondering how to cut a frozen tail. Have already decided that using my teeth is probably a bad idea, it's just that I'm not sure I have a knife that is up to it. Perhaps the stanley knife.

If the mouse is frozen, they tail may just break of easily. We find sometimes our pinks lose limbs and tails while they're still frozen... |

The tail is already separated from its owner, it's just that I need to de-freeze only half a tail for today, hence the need to cut a frozen tail. Who took the stanley knife?! |
