hiya all i have just been given a corn and its had some problems with it's tail it looks like the last time it shed some of its skin got stuck to it's tail what i cud gather it killed the very end of it's tail and it fell off, the snake has a tiny scab at the end of it's tail, the snake seems ok and is eating well, what i'm trying to say is ,,,,,, is this normal ???? |

normal in what sense?
if the skin isn't removed then it's normal for it to go necrotic and drop off.......... the stuck shed restricts the blood flow in the tail until it eventually dies and the tail tip often comes off with a subsequent shed.
is it normal to let a snake get into that condition? NO! it's poor husbandry
as long as it's just the tip of the tail, not higher up near it's vent, it shouldn't cause any real problems. but in the mean time you can clean it with Vetadine/Tamodine and use paper substrate to try and keep the area as clean as possible |
