Puss takes a gander at Ember, and probably having never seen anything like her before he was a little worried lol

Then Puss grew some 'nads and got a bit closer;
(I find it cute how he gently paws the faunarium )

Looks sweet Scarlett but I am not sure whether it would have stressed Ember out. Not sure what other people think, but I know that Kellog was terrified of cats when we got him. We have a dog and only in the last 2 months have they met - by accident and by Kellogs choice! Forgot Woody was in room lying at my feet, got Kellog out to handle and he slid down and onto Woody's back, after a bit of hesitation and a lot of tongue flicking. Dont think Woody even noticed. What do other people think about snakes and other pets?
Also the faun she is in seems a little bare, maybe you could add a few fake plants or toilet rolls for her to crawl through or hide in?
Hope you dont mind the commments, all made to be helpful not to critisize! Lol! xxx

I agree with Kellog.

Do you have thermometers and a water bowl in there? Couldn't spot these so asking, also heat mat and a thermostat?

It didn't go on long, I only wanted the cat to stop staring at her like she was something to eat which he eventually did lol. I won't be letting it happen again as he normally isn't allowed in my room, and I want Ember to have time to get used to everything without him around.

There is a water bowl, and a heat mat, and now another hide as I was waiting for the toilet paper roll to finish lol. And soon there will be something for her to climb on once it gets cut from the tree and cleaned. I haven't got a thermostat yet as it's too expensive, but I'm keeping my eye on the temperature daily to make sure it doesn't get too warm.

Thanks for the comments guys =)

When you get the branch dont just clean it but also bake it in the oven, about 160c for approx an hour. This will make sure that any mites, parasites and eggs will be killed before you put it in with Ember. They love climbing, Kellog is regularly up and down his branch twisted all around, whihc is lovely to watch.
Sounds like you are doing a really good job so far, well done. xxx

Scarlett, how are you keeping an eye on the temperature, what are you using. A heat mat can get to over 110f without a thermostat. How are you regulating the heat?

please dont think im having a go but you really need a thermostat asap, this is basic equipment that should be bought and set up and running before you get the snake. You can get a matstat for £25,so please please go get one today.
As for the issue of the cat,it would kill your snake given half the chance and i know you said that it wouldnt happen again but your cat knows it's there now and it wont forget it..Make sure the fuan is fixed down some how so the cat cant knock it off or get the top off.

Thanks Kellog =) We cut down a branch from our Willow tree today and made two climbing logs from it, but they were fresh so haven't dried out so well after the cleaning and baking. So at the moment they're sat on my windowsil to dry out in the sun, and then tomorrow I'm going to bake them again for an hour and a half or so.

I'll be buying a thermostat on monday, if I have any issues hooking it up I might need to ask someone on here lol.

Yeah I just popped them straight in the oven but I'm thinking that because they're fresh that they might take a while to dry out. So tomorrow I'm going to bake them again and see how well they dry out =)

So I got my hands on a thermometer, which is adjusting to the warm end of the fauna as we speak. I'm assuming that if the mat is making things too warm that the logical way of cooling it down would be to have less of the mat beneath the fauna? Also, me and my mum were wondering exactly how we'd hook a thermostat to the mat? As there's no obvious way to hook it up. Or are we just being REALLY blonde? lol.

Haha, I think he's too much of a chicken to do that. He's scared of things like slow worms and earth worms, which is why I think he looks so freaked out lol.

stats are easy to set up,you have 3 leads,1 is a temp probe that goes in the viv above the mat on the floor,a 2nd lead which the mat pluggs in to and a 3rd lead which plugs into your mains socket on your wall.HTH

Ohhhh I see, all of the thermostat's we had when we had fish tanks never had the three leads though (I can't remember there being three anyway) but it makes sense now =)

I've had the thermometer in for over an hour now and it's saying it's about 25/26 oC which seems fine =)
