When should you start handling a snake on a regular basis so as to tame him a little for when he grows into the 40ft monster that Spike II will grow into??
I have not handled Spike II very much only for when I put him into his container for a feed.

You wont have to do much to tame a corn. Handling for 15mins 4 times a week is fine.

Once you have left him for a week to settle in then i would handle him 2 or 3 times a week at first for about 5 minutes then build it up to around 15 minutes 4 or 5 times a week

Be careful - you have to show a lot of self-control about keeping them out for only a short period of time....you will find you dont want to put them back cos you are enjoying handling them so much! But its important not to overstress the snake, and its his welfare that is important rather than your fun! Lol! xxx

from experience, i 'tamed' one of mine by not handling her for 2 months, just changing her water, minimal interaction for cleaning out, feeding etc

mine only get handled about once a week, and some just don't get handled at all as they're awkward- or non-feeders

Must admit that I would find it hard not handling Kellog, but then I guess we got him as a pet and to interact with him, whereas others have snakes for other reasons - breeding etc. I guess as they are snakes they dont care either way! xxx
