Sorry if this is the wrong section, not sure where to post it tbh!
My little question is about getting Bam insured. when filling in the form, it asks how much the snake is worth. Well I payed £30 for bam as a hatchling, so if I put that in I only get cover for vet fees. Or do I put in his adult value? If so How much would an adult go for?? Im no good with these sort of things, and Im a bit confused!! Can anyone help me please??
Also who do you insure your snakes through? I can only find one place, Exotic direct? |

I would put at least £60
I think Pet Plan do a special exotics insurance too, but I've never really looked into it. |

£100 is good too- I've seen adults go for that and with insurance it's better to be over-protected than under |

Thats what i was thinking. They will insure me on death, theft and £1000 vet bills for £118 i think it was, is that good or bad??

It sounds alright- but I'm not sure wether I would bother. The only thing there that seems worth while is the vet bills, but with appropriate care they are unlikely to get ill anyway. They are pretty hardy.
I think theft and death are just things that would upset you, but the money the insurance would give you wouldn't bring your snake back or heal the upset
But it is up to you. If you feel more secure having insurance then go for it. I do know someone who got hit with a vet bill for £600 this year, so it would be well worth it if something like that did come up. |

mmm, insurance is one of those funny things- its useless if you never need it, but if you need it and dont have it then its really important. I insure my horses and dogs, cats etc. but not my snakes. |

I agree that insurance isnt worth it (even if my wallet is £600 lighter). I wouldnt of thought you would pay more than £100 for something like a bad RI (which a corn getting in the first place is unlikly). |

none of my animals are insured. What my family does instead is put money aside each month for vets bills etc. Ive had animals my whole life (nearly 18 years) so we have done it that long and its worked for us. I have never had to go to the vets with my reptiles, its the mammals that cost a bomb! |
