Hi folks

so what's the best method for measuring the temps, on top of the substrate or on top of the heatmat ?

Thanks

I measure on top of the substrate (bark), if I put a thermometer directly onto the heat mat it shoots up into the 50's but doesn't really reflect the temp that Monty experiences (he never burrows).

I usually put mine just under the surface of the substrate as Lucien likes to stick his nose under and burrow a bit.

I put it on the heat mat with only a thin layer of substrate on top. If you get 85f on top of the substrate then the temp on the heat mat can get to over 95f.

Ha thanks for the replies but it seems that everyone does it there own way.. :)

I reckon I'll use the digital probes for underneath the substrate and check the top of the substrate with the temp gun every now and then.

Thanks again for all the replies :)
