WARNING!
if you use a Perfecto viv (or similar brand that has a sliding mesh lid) PLEASE make sure you fit a lock!
if i'd had a snake in it i would have anyway, BUT i had feeder mice in it instead so didn't think locking was necessary.............
WRONG! one of the damn cats climbed up, managed to get his claws into the mesh lid and slide it off and eat the 'contents'
yes they were feeder mice.............. BUT NOT FOR THE CATS!!! |

Ahhh what a naughty cat!! They are so clever though one of mine can properly open doors, so we have to wedge stuff up to stop her!! But you are right about locks - unless you have a REALLY clever cat!! |

i couldn't kill a mouse to feed a snake i'll just buy frozen, i couln't kepp live mice knowing that they were going to be killed and fed to a snake... |
the amazing colour of the cornsnake, as it glides through the feild, never a mistake so as not to wake the hapless prey before it, this may as well roll over and close it's eyes as the silent hunter shall always get his prize. the forked tounge can smell you mouse, red eyes can see you stir, if she does not wake and run now, that will be the end of her. |

just as letting a snake starve to death isn't right either, you want an arguement go to RFUK and we'll discuss it there. you might learn a lot too. |

i had to, one of my boas fed 4 times in the whole of last year with his previous owner. you could feel every single rib as he moved across your hands. in the 4 months i've had him he's now taken 5 feeds, 2 of which were live.
this thread was supposed to be about the viv not live feeding! although i'm happy to debate either on the dark side i won't personaly tolerate 'that level' on here. |

I'm a vegetarian and massive animal lover, but I would feed live to my snakes if I had to... believe it or not I actually saw an advert the other day for vegetarian DOG FOOD!!! rofl. Not like my corns will accept tofu, so the above ridiculous comment is duly ignored.
Back to topic tho, you should keep the remaining mouse as a pet seeing as he/she is super lucky! |

and Dilly, if you think feeding live mice to snakes is so repulsive, then I think you picked the wrong pet... |

debate about if live feeding is ethical or not is OVER.
Gingerpony knows what she is doing and has a vast amount of knowledge and cares greatly for her snakes.
Live feeding can be risky yes, but it's the only chance in this scenario.
again, debate over live feeding is OVER.
