Update: still not done

Checked yesterday afternoon - and the eggs were starting to dent and dry, despite tons of moss and condensation in the box! It was obvious the eggs wouldn't last much longer, so l had to take them out ( got a coil shove and a hiss from Bazilishka)

I had a job separating the ones l wanted to incubate - 2 already had veins, so older than 24 h ! I chose those and some others to incubate, and froze the rest to be responsible, but it was much harder than l thought ( l cried ). She had 24 good eggs and 1 possible slug.

Baz still had 2 eggs in her, not sure if the same ones that l saw in the morning, so l returned her ( in the lay box ) in the Viv.

I then went down to the vets for advice, but my reptile vet was off. The very kind receptionist rung him, he said to leave her alone till this morning, that she may just be tired. If she doesn't pass them by then , to bring her in ( but to another town and non reptile vet acting on my vets advice ) for calcium injection and x ray.

Well, this morning, she has passed one egg ( which l froze and it was even harder to do than before as it was a big, good looking one that she was cuddling to her ), but she still has one in her, about 2 cm from the vent - and she's going blue already!

I went by gut instinct and gave her a lukewarm bath, and she drunk for about 5 mins! She must have been really dehydrated...then l put her back in the lay box and in warm end of the Viv...now l wait again, but will be ringing the vets...

Bathing is not the best idea for a gravid female as it can make them tense up, making it harder for them to pass any remaining eggs.
Should be ok for a couple of days. Let me see if I can get someone in from the fb page as this isn't my strongest subject

Not good. Sorry l didn't reply for couple of days, but l'm so upset l couldn't even look at the forums...at the moment, she's having an operation...here's what happened:

She hasn't passed the egg on Friday morning, so the vets said wait till midday, then if not passed to bring her in. Unfortunately my reptile vet was still off, but the one she's seen was acting on his instructions and was very good. She got calcium injection, and he lubricated inside her vent ( the egg is about 3 cm from the vent, just out of reach and is massive. ) of course, by then, the egg laying has stopped ( as she'd been laying since Wednesday ) and she's already gone blue. He tried very gently to see if he could massage the egg out, but no chance.

Then she was send home with me, to see if she'd pass the egg and was left completely in peace, in her lay box. She had the afternoon and whole night. I checked on her Saturday morning, egg still stuck. Walked to the vets ( without Baz as they said to leave her still ). My reptile vet was back, he told me to give her another bath ( one a day as apparently dehydration is one of the main reasons for eggbinding ) so she gets a chance to drink, gave me more liquid calcium to give her via mouth this time , and more lube for her vent. We decided that if she doesn't pass the egg by Monday l'll have to bring her in. He also said to offer her food, as that sometimes get things going ( l knew this but didn't dare to feed without asking the vet first, as l didn't know if she needs to be empty should she need an operation.

Well, so on sat l offered her a hopper - and no way she'd eat, l tried everything but she started to get annoyed and didn't want to stress her even more. So she had a bath which she really enjoyed ( she hates baths normally, but both on Friday and Saturday she was calm and drank plenty of water ). I put the lube up here venr with no problems and no protests, but the calcium was different matter. She hates having her mouth open and having meds, but even so, she actually drunk most of the calcium liquid, only started protesting towards the end...this was on the afternoon of day 4 of laying ( though l'm pretty sure the laying had stopped by Friday morning, anyway...l know disturbing and stressing egg laying snake causes egg binding, but she was beyond that by that point...

I left her alone in lay box for another 24h, then she had another short bath.

This morning, the egg was still stuck. So took her to my reptile vet, and he's taken her in for an X ray and operation. He will first try to deflate the egg and pull the shell out via vent ( she'll be anaesthetised ) or if it proves to be too far from the vent for that, he will operate.

I've lost all hope, to be honest...not sleeping for 4 days and crying every 5 minutes, as this is my fault for breeding her. I've put so much research into this, deciding on and off for 5 years whether to let her mate or not, making sure she was good weight, she had vitamin and calcium supplement, etc, and l was even faffing about trying to devise nice and dark lay box but one l could check without her...

And yesterday was her bring home anniversary, l've had Baz for 7 years now, but this is not a happy time.

Eggs are looking well and sitting in the incubator, but l must admit all the excitement is gone, l just want Bazilishka to get better, or if she can't l don't want her to suffer... and l have a massive fear should she recover, she could double clutch - and if the oviduct is damaged after the op, there be no way out for the eggs and then what? The vet did say it's possible she'l have a damage...

So sorry to hear this.
Last year, Sonny was eggbound. She had a couple of oxytocin I injections which didn't help.
In the end she had the egg drained while awake. And I was told to bathe her and it came out easy as pie.

Even worse. They couldn't deflate or pull out the egg as too calcified, and on x ray they found another egg, really high up almost by her stomach... they didn't operate as they thought it would be too traumatic and because she' blue.

They gave her more calcium and antibiotics and anti inflammatory, and send her home, thinking that perhaps she'll pass the eggs when she sheds - but her birth has stopped on Friday! They've also done bloods to see if she's too low on calcium, but l can't see how after all thecalcium jabs etc...

I trust my vet, but still wonder about second opinion. I'm really desperate to help her, and from everything l've read, l believe these eggs need to come out asap...before she get weaker. She hasn't eaten for a month and put everything into her eggs...

If the eggs are too calcified, why are they giving her more?!
I would definately get a second opinion

Still the same...l've contacted a lady vet that is a reptile specialist...but it's too far for me to get to with my damaged neck, and might be too far for Baz to travel, too. I've e mailed her and asked if my vet could contact her, just to see what she'd say. Last l heard, she hasn't got back to him yet.

I took Baz down to the vets on Thursday but she started shedding and he didn't want to do anything, so l was asked to take her home to see if she'd eat. She did eat, and l'm to take her back to the vets on Monday, when they will resolve it...fingers crossed.

I'm desperate, and yesterday it looked like the incubator was playing up, too ... fortunately, it was only a malfunctioning thermometer. That was almost the last straw, worried about loosing Baz, massive vet bills and now l though l was going to loose the eggs, too.

Ok, Baz is home again, they managed to pull out the egg that was near the vent, but it bursts in the process ( Baz has had antibiotic injection though ). I'm so glad it's out, as it was blocking her from pooping...

The egg high up they can't do anything about for now...not sure if snakes can reabsorb fertile eggs, but for now at least the bottom one is out...l'm so relieved.

Bazilishka is back in her most favourite cave.

That's a small mercy at least.
She might be willing to take some food on board now which might help her with the other one.
Is there a plan for the other egg?

Both good and bad... good news is, she is ravenous and eats well, and has pooped ( which was something the vet was worried about that she may not be able to )- but the egg high up hasn't moved and is still there. I'm worried it will start poisoning her soon....

I gave her 2 hoppers again on 26th ( second meal after the shed ) - she was begging for food before than, but l wanted her to have a rest after the Monday 's procedure, and was meant to watch her if she poops after ( as this was her second meal after laying and she hasn't pooped after the 1 st ). That was Thursday, and by this Monday evening she still hasn't pooped ( but was begging for more food again ), so l gave her a bath - and she did a massive one...gross but huge relief for both of us :-).

I fed again yesterday - 3 hoppers ( 28g together ) and she bolted them down. I'm trying to get her back to weight as she is quite thin ( and to be in better condition if she needs an operation ) but at the same time worried that if l feed too well she might decide to double clutch...
