Feegle is not eating and hasn't since the 8th of October, it's worrying me now.
He has lost 12 grams and is currently 54g. He is drinking, just not eating and has no interest in food offered to him.

I've tried braining and scenting and obviously have tried leaving the food with him overnight.

He is about a year old, a bit young for the brumation fasting I would think?

His warm end is 32-32.5 degrees.

He isn't a shy snake, he is out and about a fair bit and I think he has enough hides/coverage (bearing in mind I had to chuck two loo roll tubes before I took this pic.

I know it's hard not to worry, but Kellogs went 3 months not eating, others have gone longer, the fact he is still drinking is good, if you think he is losing too much weight, might be better to see vet, just to be safe

I think I'm worrying more because he is so little compared to the corns.
Sent to test us, these animals are.

Hi there; just a thought, it's snake sexy season at the moment, my two are both roaming around a lot more and sometimes even during the day. That may be why Feegle is showing no interest in food, if he has other things on his mind, even if he is only a youngun they can fast for quite some time if they're that way inclined when it's mating season. Don't keep offering food if he's not eating, as this can cause stress and a lack of desire to eat. Just keep to his normal feeding schedule and keep a check on his weight.

One thing to mention is the warm end temperature you have is hotter than necessary. The maximum recommended is 30 degrees, any hotter and it can cause burns if you're heating with a heat mat and in some cases, stress and neurological problems. If you could turn the temp down a bit, you never know, that may help, but possibly won't make a difference if it's mating he's thinking about. At least it will mean he's at less risk from any accidents or health issues

I hope this helps a bit

Feegle is a MBK, that's why his temps are warmer than the corns ;)

I did think it could be the ladies on his mind but he just seems too young and little for that, it would be like your 10 year old nephew trying it on with 30 year old woman lol.

I offer him every week and nothing. Luckily Vimes or Sybil (the corns) are happy to eat what he refuses.

There are a couple of vets about 40 miles away that are reputable rep vets, if he gets to 45g or doesn't start eating by the end of December I think I will take him to get checked, even if it just to put my mind to rest and confirm he is a ladies man.

Could he be trying to prepare to hibernate ( and not being able to, as high temperature )?

I was talking to a pet shop, that had a non feeding MBK. At least, he was not feeding with his owner, despite all the husbandry and temperatures being right, but feeding well in the pet shop. The only difference was - at home he was the only snake, in the pet shop, there were many snakes in many enclosures around him. They thought maybe the smell of other snakes stimulated him to feed, as kingsnakes eat other snakes in nature. So, to tempt him, could you maybe try to rub the mouse on a recently shed snake skin, to give it a different smell, and see if that makes a difference?

It's only an idea, and if he has decided not to eat, it might not make a difference - but it's worth a try... hope he's ok, he's such a character :-)

Vimes shed on Monday and I still have his skin, next feeding day is next Wednesday. It might be too old by then but I will give it a try, I never thought about using snake skin, the last couple of weeks I've tried chick wing and egg, I don't eat tuna so never have any of that in unless I'm trying to get Tat to have medication without noticing lol.

I might pop the fuz into the skin and try it that way. If that doesn't work I'll try dropping his warm end temps a little, maybe to 30.5-31 degrees and see if that makes any difference to him at all.

Though I have heard that taking them in the car can sometimes stimulate them to eat, anyone tried this?
