I wonder if my heatmat is starting to go?

I have a 20 Watts heatmat fixed in all my vivs. Just noticed that in Twid's the temperature on the mat seems to be 25.9 C max!

Checked the digi thermometer, the battery was weak, so replaced the battery. Still only 25.8. Checked position of all probes ( stat and thermometer) all ok. Slightly changed the probe position, just in case. Still only 25.8 C. Checked temps with heatgun, at various places over the mat ( just in case there's a cool spot ) range from 23 - 25.8.

Stat heating constantly ( so even the stat notices the low temperature ), temps still stuck on 25.8.

I had the mat ( Komodo ) for less than 3 years, the others seem o be working fine. Typically, I fed Twid less than 2 days ago...

Now I don't know if it's safe to let the mat run, if there's clearly something not quite right, or whether to disturb Twid ( and it would be a massive disturbance, I'd have to move him out of the viv ) and try to replace it....
He's getting heavier, too, so starting to wander, whether it's time to switch to bulbs, actually.

P.S. How many of you use heatbubls? I am a bit scared of using ceramics, as they can get VERY hot, should the thermostat malfunction.

Personally I would just change out the heat mat for a new one. I do use ceramics and have never had an issue but I only use ceramics with my carpets and all my corns are on mats with no issues.

Update. It was the thermostat, after all. Tried switching the mat for a new one, and it did the same thing. Plugged the old mat straight in mains to test it, and it heated up well.

I've spoken to Microclimate, and they are happy for me to send them the stat for repair ( all their stats have 5 year guarantee, and this one is only 2.5 years old )

Luckily, I have a spare stat, be it only ON/OFF one, so Twid is on that one now.

Donnie, thanks for the answer :-)
