Hi everyone I have a corn snake who is almost 6 months old. I have been feeding him one pinkie once a week, following the advice from the reptile shop. Is this correct or should I be feeding him more often? So far, I have never had a problem with Yogi taking his feeds :) Looking forward to hearing from you Many thanks |

Does the pinky still leave a lump when he's swallowed it? If not, it's time to think about upping the feed to 2 pinks or fuzzies. |

Hi thanks for the reply. Yes there is a little lump still. I just wasn't sure if one pinkie once a week was enough for him? Or if he should maybe have one pinkie every 4 days or so? |

I feed mine every 6 days (they're 3 months old), generally I think people feed pinkies every 5-6 days. you could try offering him another small pinky after his first for a few weeks, then try him on small fuzzies. Once you get him on fuzzies you'll be surprised how fast he grows o.O |

Normally the advice is pinks every 5 days, then double pinks every 6 days, then fluffs every 6 days, then smalls every 7 days. At 6 months I'd say a bit more would be advisable - if you think a single pink is still leaving a good bump then I would increase to every 5 days, if you think he could manage a second pink then go for the double pink option instead. |

What everyone has said is right Samantha . With a young, growing corn you would expect to feed them a pinkie every 5 days, increasing to double pinkies when there isn't much of a bump visible. If it was me I'd do the next feed in 6 days and the following feed 5 days later. Do a couple of feeds like that and then maybe try him with doubles. The Rough Guide to Feeding should help. Do you keep a record of his weight? It's a good idea to, so you can see how he's developing.
Well done for asking. Unfortunately even reptile shops can be unreliable with their advice . My local one doesn't even stock thermostats because they don't think they're necessary . No question is a silly question here, so keep asking .
