Hi everyone, some of you might remember i posted about a month ago about my cornsnake hatchling who sadly passed away shortly after.
Well after a couple of weeks i decided to get another and so i thoroughly cleaned all my equipment again and got the temperatures all sorted. Then last Monday i went and picked up a 3 month old female motley striped snow (this is how she was sold but i cant find the morph on iansvivarium, only snow motley).
Today was the end of her week settling in period so it was feeding time once i finisehd work. The person i bought her from had just upped her food size to fluffs that night i picked her up but i thought i'd stick to pinks to use them up so defrosted one in hot water and it was very small but i dropped it in front of her hide and she poked her head out to see if i was watching and then gobbled it up in seconds so i got another one as this one left no bump it was so small and defrosted it the same way but this one was about double the size of the last but i left it 10 minutes to make sure the last one had travelled down her body then dropped the next one in the same place and she did the same head poke out then did a quick strike onto the mices head and chomped it up. It was funny because i was so fascinated i stuck my head over to have a look and she stopped eating with the mouse half in her mouth and just waited for me to go away before she continued, so i left her to it and now she's curled up in her hide.
Sorry for long winded post but i'm so releived she fed and is doing well after what happened with my last little one  . |

Lovely that she has settled in well.
Motley and striped are different versions of the same gene (called alleles). Motley is dominant to stripe. If your girl has one copy of motley and one copy of stripe then she will be visually a motley |

| Awww so glad to hear you got another, and that she's eaten for you successfully :D As Charles says, if she's called a motley stripe then just consider her to be a snow motley. Some motleys do have a stripe-like pattern rather then the ladder-like pattern, but they are still officially motleys not stripes ;) |

Thanks everyone, sorry for the slow reply. And thanks for explaining that smart bunny and Charles, very helpful.
She had her second feed on saturday with no problems and i've just changed her substrate from kitchen paper to aspen today so it's going great and she likes having a nosey when i take her out of her faun |

I'm so pleased that you got another snake Danny, and she is a beauty . I wasn't around when you went through the loss of your first one but I know that it wasn't feeding properly, so getting these two feeds down her was even more important to you than for most new snake owners.
I bet she's loving the change to aspen and is busy scaring you by disappearing under it  .

| Yeah these feeds have been a relief to say the least. Funny you should say that Kellog, i just came home for lunch and she was no where to be seen so i opened the faun then spotted a little burrow and a little head popped out, very cute but gave me a quick scare haha |
