Mine are all fed in their vivs/rubs. Some people like to feed outside of the viv, and there are a few good reasons to do this (for example ensuring substrate isn't swallowed) but I prefer to feed in the viv. Picking a snake up from its feeding box to put it back the it's house is fine after feeding, by handling it's generally meant having the snake out for longer periods of time so it moves about etc and is off the heat source. A few seconds isn't going to do any harm. |

All 3 of mine are fed outside their vivs I just find it easier plus the smell of mouse isn't in their vivs . |

I feed in the viv, but there is no right or wrong answer just personal preferance and that of the snake. Some snakes feed better in the viv others are better to be fed outside the viv. |

I feed the corns and housies in feeding tubs, but the rainbow boa, carpet python and hognose are feed in their vivs. I like the advantage of being able to weigh the tub ones just before feeding :) |

I feed out side there fauns/vivs, that way I can weigh the feeding box before and with them in to get there weights and I also don't take the risk of them ingesting their aspen bedding. I simply place the smaller feeding tub back into the faun/viv and let them slither out once they are done! As people have said it is personal preference, just make sure if you are feeding them in there vivs that you put the mouse on top of a hide, feeding dish or paper towel so that they don't swallow a load of there bedding and become impacted! |

You've been given great replies Luna and, as you can see, it one of those areas in keeping corns where there isn't a right or wrong. Personally I feed mine out of their vivs because it gives me a chance to change the water, do a spot clean and you get much better pics of them feeding that way . But there is nothing wrong with feeding them in their viv/RUB/faun. I know people say that they can be come 'viv defensive' and will associate your hand going in as food, but I haven't seen or heard any real evidence of that.
This might help you out with more info on feeding - http://www.thecornsnake.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=27833
And please don't apologise for asking questions! Providing answers is what we're here for .

Boris has always been fed outside his faun then viv in a large tub. I was worried about him ingesting the aspen I use as a substrate. I know some snakes can be shy eaters but I have never had a problem with Boris- A couple of my friends and their kids came round to see feeding time a few weeks back and he was fine (no touching of course after he had been fed bar putting him back in the viv!) |
