For those of you with adult housies can I ask what size you keep the males in? I was wondering if a 2ft Monkfield terranium would be suitable as a final home for Hermes?

Also, on a different note, Hermes has become really aggro/defensive lately! He's always shooting out of his hide glaring at us and coming straight out when I put my hand in (rather than hiding like the corns do lol)... in an aggro way not a friendly way lol. I think his faun is a bit small for him now - could that cause this kind of reaction? Also I have also decided to increase his food again in case he's hungry, but I remember one of you (was it Figs or Mort, I always get you confused ?) having trouble with Eli but I cannot remember what, whether it was a bitey issue or a non-feeding issue.

He did very calmly open his jaws and tried to eat my hand the other day, but realised I was a bit big

A 2 foot Monkfield would be plenty big enough for him as an adult.
Its me that had trouble with Eli, little sod fed about 5 times in 6 months He's now back to normal and even mistook me for food the other week haha.
It may just be that your little fella is ready to go up a size with his feeds, I doubt it would be the size of his faun that's causing it. How old is he now? Could he have hit snakey puberty maybe?

Thanks Mort, that's an easy item to put on my Christmas list from the family then lol!

Ah so it was feeding with Eli. Glad he's got over that stage now :D Hermes is just over a year now - funnily enough I got him out last night and he was sweet as anything again just like he used to be - but still very viv defensive, constantly has his head out of his hide ready to give a quick glare at everything lol. I'm making a concerted effort to hold him daily except for after feeding again as I always used to give him a quick cuddle before bed when he was in our bedroon, but since moving him downstairs a few months ago he has had less handling.

Must be a housie thing! Caleb is out all the time, and does the scary stare and fast movements, shooting out at great speed I've had real trouble getting the lid off his newish faunarium that I've now put him into the 2ft monkfield (the faun was inside it), and he seems to love it! I must admit he does make me rather nervous, and I've even considered rehoming him as I'm getting a bit scared of him....even though he's never tried to bite me... yet

Awww no don't say that Hissyfit - I feel bad now as I was one of the ones raving on here about how cute they are lol! Mind you, I think I may have gone a bit OTT with his food today - he looks like he's a sausage with a head and tail! Maybe 2 fuzzies is a bit much for him still, whoops! Might leave him a little bit extra until his next cuddle and also next feed :P

I'm hoping it is a case of him being too cramped - the thing is he's much longer than the width x depth of his faun, and at that length I was moving the corns into their 3ft vivs... but there's just no way, he's so skinny he'd get out I'm sure, which is why I fancy one of the Monkfields. I hope it's not too mean of me to make him wait until Christmas. Will be very interesting to hear if Caleb settles down now he's in a bigger home.
