First off; Which I think fully expresses my feelings of ANGER IN EXTEMIS-helplessness,betrayal,and generally being FICKED OVER big time. My dear little baby Lilith is also gravid-shed 2 days ago and has a belly full of what feel like cherry tomatoes. I emailed the breeder who apologized, and freely admitted that lilith was kept with a 'yearling hypo het lav,het motley'. now I'm faced with Sunny too fat and with a belly full of mongrels, and Lilith only 2yrs old and little with eggs due very soon. These are my two fav. girlies and I am terribly worried I may lose them. I realy am beyond caring what if anything may be in Lilith's eggs-I am beside myself with worry over her-no wonder she's been grumpy I guess it's not nice having big lumps when you are only a smally yourself In a weird way I can get my head round what happened to Sunny-they were IDIOTS they had pretty much forgotten they had her BUT Lilith I bought direct from the breeder with REAL £££££'s-I think its inexcusable.I'm so worried about little lilith. Sorry folks, ranting over-I'm just repeating myself now-it seems regardless of how or where your snakes come from they may all ready be ficked Any ideas on how I can help this little girl?? |

I can understand your anger, that's so out of order and not the sort of thing you would expect from a breeder. She is obviously too young for this and probably not prepared. I don't really know what you can do, just have to wait and keep a close eye on her. I hope she is going to be ok. |

Awww, poor Lilith
I think there's been a couple of members on here have accidental eggs from young ladies that have come out the other side no worse for wear. If little one has trouble squeezing the eggs out, don't leave it too long before going to the vets or similar - the less time she spends pushing, the more energy she'll have left to recover with!
Fingers, paws and forked tongues crossed they'll both be ok! x |

That's rubbish Lucky for the snakes that they are now in your care. Hopefully they will both lay without any bother and that will be the end of it. Fingers crossed for you. |

So understand your rant!
Pop a moist laying box/hide in the viv. I use an old ice cream container with vermiculite and sphagnum moss. I put the lid on it and cut a hole for entry and exit. Not much else you can do really apart from keeping a close eye and praying.
Fingers crossed for you that all goes well. |

Also meant to ask if you've thought about incubation? There is a good sticky that will guide you through that. http://www.thecornsnake.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=17108 Hope that helps.

Very good sticky Herriot fan-all I've thought of so far is my poor girls! Eggs out of Sunny I'll euthanize;they will be 3 way mongrels-Gold dust is already part Gt plains rat and the male was MBK-so not worth the risk,. Lilith is Anery Lavender and I'm TOLD the male was Hypo het Lav&Motley- can't decide IF I should believe that or not So many variables.I guess it makes sense to get an incubator set up,if I lose Lilith and she leaves viable eggs then yes I would want to try and salvage something. |

OMG - I can't believe how stupid people can be (particularly a so called breeder). I really hope your snakes have no problems laying and I'm with you on only being concerned for your girlies. Too many unwanted snakes out there - fingers crossed for you that all goes well. |

Hope the girlies are both ok, especially Lilith... I don't know what you think of supplements, but if it were me, and if she's still eating, I know some breeders do supplement calcium in breeding season, and some do vitamin and mineral supplement once a breeding season. As she is so young and not yet fully grown, you don't want her taking the calcium for the egg shells from her own bones. I give supplements to mine, only once in a long while. I put the powder on a damp fuzzie, and feed it first, when they're hungry, then give them their normal feed ( or a mouse size smaller ) straight after. Never had a problem of them not taking it. Maybe worth a try, it can't hurt her, and could help. |

Haven't been on here for a while Meg and am so sorry to hear what you, and your snakes, are going through . I'd never CHOOSE to breed because I know the risks and I'd be a nervous wreck , but you've been forced into this situation with 2 of yours. I know it's worrying for both but obviously the one you're most concerned about is Lilith. I know she's young, but she is fit and healthy so hopefully she'll be able to lay without any problems. As Figs said there have been forum members who have gone through this with young snakes, usually through cohabiting , and they've been fine. I also agree with her that if you are the slightest bit concerned that she's struggling then straight to the vet. What's so frustrating is all you can do is watch, wait and pray.
Totally understand your rant but unfortunately there is so much of this happening that I'm actually not too surprised . Guess that makes me cynical, just don't tell the other Mods because I'm the one whose not supposed to be that way ! Are you going to try to get your money back from the breeder? To me it's not for the money but more the principle of the matter and if you take a stand about it he might think twice about what he's doing....that's better, that's the Mod I'm supposed to be, positive and unrealistic .
I know you'll keep us up to date with what's going on, with both of them. I won't bother commenting on Sunny's post, but you know I'll be thinking of you, and them, and praying too.
Xxx

Oh no, not Lilith as well! Of all people a breeder should flippin' well know better, grrrrrr >(
I know it's almost impossible, but try not to worry too much, with any luck she will be absolutely fine, keeping everything crossed for you and her - and Sunny as well! |

Thats what I thought too SB well Lilith is now all set up in a 2'Monkfield viv-the sort with a glass top and front. She's got an empty Ice Cream tub with vermiculite and sphagnum and is having a good roam about the place, more activity than I've seen from her in a long while. Sunny has stayed in her 3'x2'x2'viv and she has a small rub set up with vermiculite and moss;her reaction was 'great more food?'and when no food appeared she did a quick scout about the place (for food presumably)then naffed of back to her viewing station. Thank you all for your help and kind words-the Girlies are feeling the love too |
