Actually, not that I have her and and seen her stomach I'm pretty sure she's not a normal one. I think she's bloodred because she has a light gray head and no white on her top side and her stomach is not checkered, but white towards her head with an oranger shade with some black marks along the posterior of her stomach. What do you think?

looks similar to my Carolina, he has checkers part way down his underside and then more orange towards the end. No white on his top side either.
I take it she's particularly vicious judging by the first pics of being handled with heavy duty gloves on ha ha

She's a Carolina Motley in my honest opinion I thought she might have been just from looking at the top two photo's as she has the motley look all the way down her back :) Can you get clearer pictures of her? I'm 100% sure she's a Carolina Motley just going by the saddle shapes from the first two pics and the clear belly.

Here's some more clear pics, and the first two pics were what the previous owner sent me haha. They traded their turtle for her on a whim and then thought she could be poisonous so never handled her without gloves on I guess. But she's a sweetheart, and isn't vicious at all :P

Alright, so a Carolina Motley? Great! But I was looking at motleys, and it seems like most have more defined spots. Is she a poor example, or still pretty good? And would you say she'll go more orange as she grows? Thanks!

How are diffused corns different than motleys? I know their pattern fades out on the sides but that's all I know about them.

Motley changes the pattern more; most motleys seem to have more defined 'spots', as you said
Diffused ..well... diffuses the lateral patterns and the colours sort of bleed together. Bloodreds are selectived bred diffused

So would you say diffused, not motley? Could she be a bloodred?

Thats what I think (confusing I know haha!!)
I'd say too much black to be a bloodred, but the whole selective bred things can be subjective

Oh okay! I didn't know bloodreds didn't have black haha. So what will she look like as she grows? Does all of her patterns fade?

Female normal diffused, or female normal masque. Looks to have too much side pattern for diffused, and not enough belly checks for masque...

I'm a bit stumped here!

Diffused are red and grey when young and have light grey heads. She's red and orange. Diffused have no side patterns, she does. I don't know about Masque as I've never heard of it or seen it.

I guess the best way to tell would be watch her grow up. I can't comment on Masque so right now I'm still with Carolina Motley as she has the circles down her back for it and no belly checkers. The motley gene removes belly checkers and the orange "bleeding" onto her belly could be a trait of the Carolina gene as carolina and hypo both "bleed" orange onto their bellies. My girls has orange on her belly but she's a hypo.
