I need to set the scene a little first...

I got my first ever snake just under a year ago, a corn snake. Since then I've gotten a few more corn snakes. I went today with the plan of looking at adding some more corn snakes to my modest little collection.

Instead, I came home with THIS little man...

Look at his black belly!

..whome I've named Cornelius...

..and THIS!

A bloomin' boa constrictor! I wasn't expecting that but I just love him and can't stop holding him lol <3

The more time I spend with him, the more I think he's the most beautiful thing ever! And he's currently shedding at the moment as well so not looking his best.
We didn't click straight away, mostly cos I was in shock I'd walked away from the table holding a tub with a new species, a BIG species, of snake in it! Buuut I've got over that now and he's grown on me tons :D Not chosen a name yet for him but will do so this evening with help from the other half (who was just a teensy bit shocked).

And I can't believe how in love with my hoggie I am. I always thought they were kinda funky looking, but when I met some in person and held this little guy, I just had to take him home. He wiggles along like a caterpillar and nuzzles his head into my fingers :flrt: He's the cutest thing ever and perfectly "special".

Very pleased with my first picks ups from my first ever reptile show :D Drove all the way from Suffolk to get there too! Fab day out.

Wow, loving the boa so much. There were some seriously gorgeous boas at the show today, had to keep telling myself I definitely don't have space for what will become a rather large snake...

I know what you mean! Luckily I already have all the housing he'll need for a number of years to come so don't need to worry about acquiring it, but I'm not even sure I have a clue what I've let myself in for. I have ALWAYS wanted a *big* snake though so, he will be staying We live in a 2 bedroom house, but our son is in with us so my pets get their own bedroom Plenty of room for him to grow

He still needs a name though... struggling with this one cos he's just so different!

Thanks guys, I am so freaking chuffed with them both. Cornelius continues to be a complete little character. He's like no other snake I've handled before!
The boa is now chilling in his RUB. I placed his swimming pool on a shelf and he's currently hanging off the edge After doing a little bit of reading it seems they can be rather arboreal, so instead of keeping him in a regular flat RUB like I was recommended, I'm gonna get a taller one so I can put some climbing gear in for him.

I'm also being rather sneaky utilising the same heat mat for a corn, the hoggie AND the boa lol. Via some craftiness the corn has 28 degrees, the hoggy around 30 and the boa 32. Just until my new mat turns up on Tuesday and then I can separate them off regarding their temps a lot better.

It took me over 2 and a half hours to get there, but it was totally worth it

My boa has a name now, he's called Damon. And check this out! Offered him a mouse on Monday to see how he was settling in, and BAM!

Hell of a constrict from that guy! And I just love his colours, he shed Monday morning so is looking much brighter than the pics I posted at the start of the topic. I just love the red on his tail!

I'm going to custom build him an arboreal viv when he gets to adult size I think. Maybe convert a wardrobe or something. I've got a 10 foot wall I could fill with his home

Little Cornelius is in shed at the moment! I noticed his tummy seemed more grey a day or so ago, and when I went to get him out last night to feed him, he was hiding under his loo roll and blowing it upwards with a scary "pppfff!" noise! It was so cute <3 I then saw him and realised he was blind in blue poor little bugger, so I've left him be. There's be more piccies of him after he's shed. He's such an adorable little wormy

Nice constrict!! Love his tail as well.

Lol at puffy Cornelious - I found it took aaaaages for our hoggy to shed - so much so that the damp hide I had put in for him had dried out so the poor thing ended up with some retained shed. Hoggies definitely are recommended a damp hide when in blue (just in case you don't know).
